WHAT A DAY. YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN.

Yesterday morning I woke up feeling fairly decent. I had a few errands to run and considered my upcoming day "busy".
I had no idea what was coming.
As I walked into the kitchen to get my Carnation, I noticed rice had been spilled around the garbage can. We did have rice in burritos the other night and I figured Jordan had just thrown the leftovers away and missed the garbage.
I bent down to clean it up, grabbed a grain, and it moved!
This is not rice...these are worms!!
At that instant I noticed all the little rice imitators (which were now confirmed white squirmy worms) were EVERYWHERE. Not just around the garbage. I looked closer and they were all over the carpet around the table, on the kitchen floor, and some had even gotten into the family room. Me, being scared of anything smaller than a frog that moves, was terrified. I freaked out. I called Jordan and he didn't have much advice. Just clean it up. How was I supposed to do that!? Just "CLEAN UP" crawling disgusting worms!? I then called my mom who always saves the day, and she told me to vacuum them up and get rid of the garbage.
If you've never experienced this but may in the future, let me give you some advice. Vacuuming up worms out of your carpet does not work too well if you only do it once. After I would vacuum an area, about 5 minutes later new worms would pop out of the carpet. It was horrible. I ended up vacuuming this place about 4 times.
That's tiring.
Not only did I have to vacuum severe amounts, I washed the curtains which hang on the window and touch the floor of the infested worms. I cleaned out the garbage can with soap- spraying myself in the face with the hose because I was pointing it the wrong way when I turned in on. Finally, I washed all the rugs that were touched by my unwelcome friends.
On top of all this...I am still pregnant nauseous (even more so after witnessing that), and I still had errands to run.
I was so worried that these worms had come out of food somewhere in our cabinets and we would have to throw everything away. BUT none of them were on the counters or anything, just all on the floor- so that was a good sign. By the time Jordan got home and took a look at a lost straggler, he determined they were most likely fly larva.
Gross gross gross.
Did I mention our renter's inspection is today? Ironic. Luckily I haven't seen any more so I think we're back to normal.
Don't let flies in your house people!!

  1. Yuck! So sorry! That would freak me out too! I should have come to help you clean it! Glad it got taken care of just in time for the "5 minute" inspection that you took hours preparing for! Ha Ha :)
